I wish a very very passionate, prosperous, promising ,peaceful and powerful happy new year to all our fellow maithils and their family.I also wish a vert happy new year to the maithili.net.in team who haveprovided us a unique platform to exchange and share our views with one another and have reinforced our resolve to make Mithila a powerful place to reckon with.
As a part of our new year resolve, I would like to invite all proposals to start a standard daily news paper in Maithili either from Darbhanga or Patna from established professionals,businessmen and enterpreneurs on equity participation basis.We solicit suggestions from all quarters except those who may doubt feasibility of such venture or who may like to take it as another emotional venture.It is proposed to run it on very professional term with professional team keeping in view of market of almost 20 million maithils where desire to connect with fellow maithils in maithili and desire to give expressions of maithili peoples aspirations, of course would be a driving spirit ,but commercial, economic and profitable viability would always be a prime motive for such an enterprise.

| There is a place called Pandaul which is very strategically located between Madhubani and Darbhanga via Sakri just a little beyond Sakri towards Madhubani.This place is such a wonderful place that one may find solace that such a beautiful all season road between Sakri and Madhubani with Pandaul in between where one can easily drive at at the speed of 60-80kms per hour all round the year.Theere is vast strech of open space on both sides of the road and one starts wondering how such beautiful road can remain maintained in the so called almost non-existent road regime of the successive administration.I salute people of the region to have maintained pressure on the administration to have such a beautful and maintained road. Pandaul strikes you for more than one reason too. This is the only place where one may unbelievable see industrial sheds of spinning mill, though not running at present.But this place definitely symbolises vision of the the leader shri Kumud ranjan jha to make it industrialised if i am correct.It is not known why and under what circumstances the mill was closed and what efforts are being taken to revive it.Details of reasons for its failure and funds allocated to it so far and effots made so far to revive may be known under the RTI Act.This place exudes a rare confidence that an Integrated Textile Hub can be developed with a state of the art Textiles Research and Training Institute.Industrial plots may be earmarked for setting up spinning ,weaving,and texturising yarns. As these are non- polluting industries with high value addition after every process. enterpreneurs may gain a lot .Because of availability of a large pools of artisans at at competive rates,one can definitely expect a very high return on investment.To avoid a SINGUR type of situation,farmers holding land themselves may be trained to start such units on either parnership or on their own with full technological and marketing support from the local textile Reseacg institute.The said Institute may also be made to prepare projects reports and may act as nodal agency also to arrane for long term and short term financial needs of the enterpreneurs from the Banks.Recently I have happened to visit Ludhiana to study activities in these sectors and amazed to see not only the pool of wealth created by enterpreneurs but also the scale of employnent in both skilled and non skilled category. Let us begin to dream and join to explore if we too can create it at our own PANDAUL. |

'Ganga-snan' at Simaria elicits such a cherished wish for almost all maithils that they would rarely miss any such oppurtunity that promise them a trip to Simaria for Ganga-snan. Calm,cool, serene and majestic Ganga at simaria beckons one and all to have a holy dip into its water.Maithils cutting across caste and other social barrier visit Simaria not only for taking a holy dip in the Ganges but also stay here for their ' Kalpvas' (temporary stay ) or for ' Mas' (staying for one month) during the holy month of Karthik every year.However, arrangements for taking a holy dip in general or arrangemnts for their stay during 'kalpavas' or 'Mas' during karthik month in particular are not only inadequate but simply non-existent.So is the condition during the Magh Mela.I would take this oppurtunity to place my perspective on such arrangements before the Civic administration,District Authrities or before the state Government, if at all, they are sincerely concerned on any issues of Maithil interest and we maithils not only think but firmly believe that the visions of the Successive State Governments limit itself to Southern,Western and Central Bihar and seldom extend up to Mithilanchal save during election days.
The entire coastal area of the Ganges at Simaria may be divided into Sectors.Each sector may have enough number of Sulabh Utilities at far end of the sectors.Temporary water connections may be provided in each sectors.As people prepare thier foods on their own temporary piped cooking gas connection may be provided to them by roping in the services of The GAIL authoriteis.The entire Mela and adjoining region may be provided with either Solar energy or Sulabh Energy.The District Administration may engage services of NCC and NSS cadets to assist the Police. If this arrangement can be successful at Allahabad during the Kumbh when there is a floating population of one million people during any time of the day or night,definitely it is going to be successful at Simaria.The elected representatives or the District administration do have their responsibility to plan, to priortise how to allocate resources,how to get additional funds,how much help to be solicited from the public and how to commission the professional arrangements which may become a precedence for others to follow at local level.If cooking for twenty thousand people at SHIRDI can be made by employing Solar energy,if entire Belly Road can be lighted with Sulabh Energy,definitely such innovative and tested technique may be employed to supply energy at affordable cost for the sheer convenience of the people at large.
One small observation in the end --------------- looting of pilgrimage( as it is reported in the Times of India,25th December) be they Jain,Budhha or any other group anywhere is condemnble and we not only strongly condemn it but demand severest punishments for those who has committed it.But allotting this news Headlines on the front page possibly
reflect media's preoccupation of highliting such issues in such fashion as if to reflect that it happens only in Jharkhnad (read Bihar).Justice shall be met if they allow killings and torture of Bihari labourers in Punjab, Assam and Maharashtra by the local Chauvinist to take the Headlines of their Front Page.Or else at least incidents of looting at all other pilgrimage centres are allowed to take front lines of the first page. Hope my friends in the Print Media may note that their conscious and wilful campaign shall not dampen the pace of develpoment that is witnessed in Bihar these days. |

I feel proud to be a maithil and feel privileged to share my perspective on Mithila.I have quite often visited this site and get emotional with all kinds of praise of maithil culture.Rarely have we thought out to ask ourselves why we have not been able to ask our political leaders to define their accountability to the electotates they represent.It is not comprehensible how these failed leaders get elected again and again.perhaps we cann,t see beyond caste or we pretend to be relieved by voting for leaders of our own caste.We had our share of presumably great leaders from llike Late shri L N Mishra ,Dr Jagganath Mishra mishra, Late Shree Karpoori Thakur in the past to Shree Ramvilas Paswan,Shree Hukumdeo Yaday to Dr Shakeel Ahmed and Shree Fatmi at present who held very important positions in the Government or holding very important portfolio at present,but have we asked them or rather have they allowed us to ask whar are their blue prints for the development of the regions which happen to be not other than our Mithila region they represent.
We contemplate if we can ask them such silly questions like creating a pharmaceuticals HUB on pattern we see at Baddi in Himachal Pradesh or Vapi and Ankleshwar in Gujrat.we can understand that heavy steel plants or major automoblles industries may not be feasible but have they really thought over setting up a number of food processing zones which give us a definite advantage over other regions?Have they tried ever once to create a Tirupur which has emerged as second Surat in just few years in textiles sector be it processing or manufacturing garments inspite of the fact we have a large resource pool of traditional weavers in Mithila inGneral and in Madubani-Darbhanga regions in particular ?. Can’nt we conceive a series of packaging industries which may not require a large capital or huge tracts of land? Can we really ask them to set up functioning industrial estates in each Blocks?Let us assume no investor may come to invest here in view of the absence of total infrastructure like roads , or power and in view of the continued biased and prejudiced English Media who can’nt change their stereotype come whatever law and order may improve,cann’t we go for state investment to create infrastuctures or a chain of industries on the pattern of what Pandit Nehru had done for the nascent India in 50s and 60s by investing heavily into steel,Power, Dams and Scientific institutions?Suppose our state may not have that surplus capital, have we exercised option to go for private public partnership to give shape to development?Do we really ask to build a NETARHAT or VANASTHALI in Mithila? Do we really feel to have a IIM or a XLRI in Mithila? Can we match 125 to 150 Engg colleges and 50-60 medical colleges in states like Maharashtra,Karnataka,AP or Tamilnadu? Bhuj,popularly known as the heart of the Kutch region in Gujrat is connected by air and the Premier airlines such as AIR INDIA, JET AIRWAYS and the KINGFISHER operate their daily commercial flights from Mumbai and from almost all big cities of Gujrat and mind it, that too, from leased facilities of operational Defence Air base of Indian Air Force.I have mentioned just to remind ourselves that we too have an equally big Air base at Darbhanga,unkempt and un operational,thanks to our indifferent leadership and equally loathe beaurocracy. I wish educated maithils to be enlightened and reasonably rational after getting educated at IIMs , IITS or JNUs/Dus but it remains a wish till date to find a single maithil bridegroom to say I won’ accept dowry or for that matter,I will vote for the leader irrespective of his/her caste. I did have few occasions to elicit our leaders interest on such issues but without any success and my enthusiasm to engage them in any meaninful conersations on such issues drew wrath for me in their glitzy world of Akbar roads,Aurangzeb Roads and Janpaths.Hope together we may make some small beginings one day
And may be able to ask our leaders to explain one single reason why we should not regret to have elected them repeatedly . Hope our friends may forgive me for my cynic approach but I have just expressed my perspective of the region where I have been born and had my entire college education and where I sit , cry ,shout and feel helpless to see not a single industry at Darbhanga,Madubani,Pandaul,Jhanjharpur,Madhepur,Phulparas,Benipatti,Sitamarhi,saharsha or at various other Blocks.

| How some insane(which is too mild a word for him) like so called sweetrag openly keep on abusing all biharis in filthiest terms and you have still not blocked his email to come on this site.A proper police complain must be filed for violating the most sacred and most cherished rights under article 19 of the Indian Constitution.It has hurt the basic concepts of liberty to live with dignity.At least such derogatory letter should not have allowed to be put under guest book. though we too can do that but can'nt stoop so low. |

Being a resident of Laxmipur(Darbhanga) explored the maithils site and found a very good usefull site for maithils . Thanks a lot to the team of this site .Whenever you need music-dance show for this society in India or abroad dont hesitate'and contact me for cultural co-operation.
